WESTWIND 2021 – 37th Theatre Meeting for Young Audiences NRW

Event trip

For the first time in a long time, we were able to welcome guests from the International Visitors Programme at the end of August 2021:

A total of eight theatre makers, programme directors, curators and organisers from the field of children's and youth theatre travelled to Cologne on the occasion of WESTWIND 2021, the 37th theatre meeting for young audiences in NRW. The guests from Latvia, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Turkey, the USA and Chile saw competition entries from North Rhine-Westphalia and international guest performances at the COMEDIA Theatre in Cologne and met for discussions with the festival team and artistic directors.

During the trip, the group also visited the Consol Theater in Gelsenkirchen and met with the artistic directors of the Helios Theatre and hellwach Festival. During the expert exchange on structural challenges of the pandemic and experiences with new digital and hybrid formats - especially with young audiences - the international guests met with numerous members of the Arbeitskreis junges Theater NRW (Working Group of Theatres for Young Audiences in North Rhine-Westphalia).
