c/o pop Festival and Convention 2022 – Networks and New Discoveries in North Rhine-Westphalia's Pop Music Scene

Event trip

The guests of the first visitor programme this year travelled to North Rhine-Westphalia on the occasion of the c/o pop Festival and Convention.

Since 2004, the c/o pop Festival has been bringing national and international acts from the fields of electro, indie, hip hop/rap and related styles to the stages of Cologne - including both established artists and newcomers. In recent years the focus has increasingly shifted to national newcomers. The c/o pop Convention, a meeting place for the music industry and cooperating sectors such as the digital economy and games, takes place at the same time. Here, keynotes, lectures, presentations, workshops and training sessions will take a practical look at the future. There will also be plenty of opportunities for networking. The c/o pop Convention sees itself as a platform for networking and interaction for bands, artists and the entire related ecosystem.

Eight participants from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Ukraine, including festival directors, programme makers and representatives from the field of pop music promotion, visited the numerous concerts, networking and panel events between 20 and 25 April.

During the tour of the exhibition "Electro. From Kraftwerk to Techno" in Düsseldorf's Museum Kunstpalast, visiting c/o Ehrenfeld and exploring the Cologne district of the same name, the guests had ample opportunity to explore the local scene. The visitors' programme focused on the opportunity to meet the initiators and the team of c/o pop in person. In addition, the visitors met with representatives of important institutions promoting pop music and culture in North Rhine-Westphalia, including Create Music NRW from the Landesmusikrat NRW and popNRW.
