With the Werkproben, the NRW KULTURsekretariat, together with the Kultursekretariat NRW Gütersloh, operates a select promotional program from which organizers, authors and readers of all ages benefit equally.
With this special form of literary mediation, öffentliche literary organizers and schools offer a broad audience the opportunity to experience high-ranking authors from NRW "live" in readings and writing workshops thanks to the special conditions. Digital insights are also provided by video clips with short readings by all participating authors.
The current Werkproben program, which was designed in cooperation with the Literaturbüro NRW as well as the Literaturhaus Bonn, the Literaturbüro Ostwestfalen-Lippe, the Literaturbüro Ruhr and the Westfälisches Literaturbüro, was originally only supposed to be valid until the end of 2020. However, due to various corona-related event cancellations, the program offering was extended until the end of 2021.
As always, the traditional literary genres are represented by top-class authors: The prose section is represented by Hanna Jansen and Sarah Meyer-Dietrich, while poetry is represented by Hellmuth Opitz and Bastian Schneider. Doris Meißner-Johannknecht and Ute Wegmann have been recruited for the children's book section, while Rüdiger Bertram and Tobias Steinfeld cover the youth book segment.
In addition - under the title "Literature plus" - cross-border formats will again be supported and other forms of presentation beyond the classic reading will be offered: For example, Ferdinand Lutz and Dominik Merscheid bring children's comics to life performatively in their "BildKlangLesung" with crazy voices, sounds, music and small animations. Miriam Berger and Xaver Römer, on the other hand, can currently be experienced as the duo "sprechduette" with their advanced speech-performative project on texts by Annette von Droste-Hülshoff.
Special attention is traditionally paid to the teaching of writing skills. Thus, almost all participating authors offer creative writing workshops in addition to readings. Both formats can again be booked individually, but also in combination on the same day.
Appointments as well as detailed arrangements regarding the course of the event, arrival and departure, number of participants, selection of works and workshop topics will be made directly with the authors.
