Open Source Festival 2017 – Düsseldorf’s vibrant art and music scenes

Press trip

At the invitation of the International Visitors Programme, a group of journalists came to Düsseldorf for the Open Source Festival from 7 to 9 July. The guests from Greece, Great Britain and Ukraine had numerous opportunities to get to know the vibrant art and music scene of the state capital. In addition to visiting the music festival, which has been held annually since 2006, the international visitors also took part in a guided tour of the site of the former parcel post, the postPost - Grand Central, which is used by the makers of the Open Source Festival.

At the Julia Stoschek Collection, the group of visitors was given a guided tour of the anniversary exhibition "10 YEARS JULIA STOSCHEK COLLECTION - GENERATION LOSS". This large private collection of international media art was able to look back on its 10th anniversary in 2017. A guided tour of the underground stations of the new Düsseldorf "Wehrhahn Line" was also on the programme. A meeting with the (sound) artist, musician and producer Stefan Schneider also took place there.

A meeting with the Düsseldorf artist Mischa Kuball and students of the Cologne Academy of Media Arts (KHM) at the festival completed the visit. This was the eighth time that the art academy was represented at the Open Source Festival with works by its students. The visitors also met the bands from NRW that had been selected to perform on the festival's Young Talent Stage.
