Film and media arts in North Rhine-Westphalia (Focal Point A: 40th Internationales Frauen Film Fest Dortmund+Köln and Videonale.19)

Event trip

Six international guests from Belgium, Brazil, Lithuania, Venezuela, Iran and the Netherlands, including curators, filmmakers and producers, travelled from 21 to 26 April to visit the 40th Internationales Frauen Film Fest Dortmund+Köln (IFFF) and the VIDEONALE.19 exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Bonn. They also got to know other venues and institutions in the field of film and media art in NRW.

In addition to visiting the film screenings and events in Dortmund, the guests met with Maxa Zoller, artistic director of the Internationales Frauen Film Fest Dortmund+Köln, and visited the HMKV Hartware MedienKunstVerein for a meeting with the director Dr Inke Arns. In Düsseldorf, the participants met with Nele Kaczmarek, Deputy Director of the IMAI Foundation, Darija Šimunović, Research Associate Collection & Distribution, and Kat Lawinia Gorska, Research Volunteer. The programme also included a visit to the Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf and a discussion with director Jan Wagner.

The final and central element of the combined themed trip "Film and Media Art in NRW" was a visit to the VIDEONALE.19 at the Kunstmuseum Bonn together with Tasja Langenbach, artistic director of the VIDEONALE, and a subsequent exchange with actors from the film and media art scene in NRW as well as the participants of the visitor programme "Film and Media Art in NRW. Focus B: 69th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and VIDEONALE.19" as part of a networking event organised by the International Visitors Programme on 25 April at the Kunstmuseum Bonn. Participants included: Jimena Aguilar (ifs - internationale filmschule köln), Prof. Phil Collins (Academy of Media Arts Cologne), Tasja Langenbach (Videonale e. V., Bonn), Hanna Noh (artist / award winner, SHOOT - KHM & IFFF Dortmund+Cologne) and Julian Quentin (artist, VIDEONALE.19).
