Transfer International

International artist and art exchange program

The international artist and art exchange program Transfer International will be relaunched in 2022 and realigned in 2021. The basis for the conceptual considerations now pending is an inventory of residency programs conducted jointly with the NRW Ministry of Culture and the Kunststiftung NRW, followed by an evaluation and determination of implementation conditions by a team of experts.

The implementation and establishment of the new transfer concept will be carried out by the "International Visitor Program" of the NRW KULTURsekretariat.

As in the past, the future, new Transfer International will also be regionally oriented over a period of several years and will work in a sustainable and networking manner with the instruments of artistic exchange programs. Further considerations will focus on a lively discursive exchange on a European level, the long-term integration and linking of networkers and multipliers from different art disciplines.

After nine Transfers since 1990, the concept was revised in 2015 and its content broadened with the aim of promoting international cooperation in art and culture. The two "Transfer International" programs now focus on genre- and theme-related as well as interdisciplinary exchange programs with intensive working and dialog processes between regional and international actors, partners and institutions.

The first Transfer International took place in 2016 to 2017 with the Netherlands and Belgium. The second focused on Greece, with the cities of Athens and Thessaloniki. Both Transfers focused thematically on the two priority topics of NRWKS, "Digital Culture" and "Interculture/Diversity". The International Visitors Programme was intensively involved in both exchange programs, in each case in cooperation with relevant partner institutions.
