Since its foundation in 1984, the biennial VIDEONALE in Bonn has developed into one of the most important festivals for video art and time-based art forms in Germany and Europe.

On the occasion of the 16th festival edition, an international group of visitors came to NRW from 16 to 19 February. The diverse festival programme gave the guests a comprehensive insight into contemporary artistic practice as well as into current debates in video art and developments on the art market.

In addition to the festival events, participants from England, Japan, Lithuania, Palestine, Romania and Taiwan met with experts from the local video art scene. Visits to relevant institutions, including the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, the Julia Stoschek Collection and the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, rounded off the programme.
