Cologne Jazzweek – A Portrait of the Jazz Scene in Cologne

Cologne Jazzweek, held for the first time in 2021, was on the agenda of the six guests from Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Austria and the Netherlands who, at the invitation of the International Visitors Programme, had the opportunity to get to know Cologne's diverse and renowned jazz scene from 02 to 05 September 2021.

The concerts of the festival, organised by Jazzstadt UG, brought the visitors to the numerous clubs of the city. In addition to the concerts, they took part in a discussion on "International Perspectives on the Promotion and Networking Structures of Young Artists" and met Janning Trumann, Managing Director of Jazzstadt, for a talk.

A visit to the Cologne University of Music and Dance (HfMT) and a meeting there with Prof. Annette von Eichel, Dean of the Jazz/Pop Department, and Prof. Jonas Burgwinkel, jazz musician and professor of jazz percussion/drums, as well as a discussion with Dr. Benedikt Müller and Hans Martin Müller, managing director and founder respectively of LOFT, performance venue for jazz, improvised and contemporary music in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, completed the programme.
