Bridging Spaces. Creating Cultural Networks Across Displacement, Diaspora and Postmigration

As part of the themed trip ‘Bridging Spaces. Creating Cultural Networks Across Displacement, Diaspora and Postmigration,’ the International Visitor Programme welcomes seven international curators, scholars and cultural actors from 12 to 17 November.

The guests will have the opportunity to network with institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia that deal with the thematic focus in contemporary and historical contexts. For example, the DOMiD association has been documenting the history of migration in Germany since 1990 and plans to open the Selma Museum in Cologne by 2029, the first museum in Germany dedicated to the history of migration. Since 2015, the Museum Centre for Persecuted Arts in Solingen has been combining historical analysis with contemporary artistic perspectives and was founded, among other things, as a result of the efforts of the Else Lasker-Schüler Society.

There are also plans to attend the play ‘Four Walls and a Roof’ by Lina Majdalanie & Rabih Mroué at the FFT Düsseldorf, as well as further discussions and visits to institutions that provide relevant platforms and spaces for discourse or deal with the topic in the context of scientific, artistic and curatorial issues.
