Dance Research NRW #58

GRASP

GRASP, the title of the research project by Dance Research fellow Ada Freund from Helsinki (Finland), deals with the perception of time through embodied and sensory experiences, whereby time is viewed as relative, multi-layered and fluid – shaped by attention, memory and environment. The iconic suspension railway in Wuppertal offers a special location for this research: its constant movement, the rhythmic changes between stations and the floating perspective between the ground and the sky form a vivid metaphor for time consciousness and intermediate states.

Collaboration with local artists, including sound designer Maja Prill, expands the research with new sonic and performative perspectives. GRASP opens up an intercultural dialogue that extends artistic practice beyond the Finnish context and offers new insights into perception, movement and the subtle structures of time.
