With "Werkproben" (Work Samples), the NRW KULTURsekretariat and the Kultursekretariat NRW Gütersloh run an exquisite support programme from which organisers, authors and readers of all age groups benefit equally.
With this special form of literary education, public literary organizers and schools offer the opportunity to experience high-ranking authors from NRW "live" in readings and writing workshops.
Digital insights are also provided by video clips with short readings by all participating authors.
The current "Werkproben" programme, which was designed in cooperation with the Literaturbüro NRW and the Literaturhaus Bonn, the Literaturbüro Ostwestfalen-Lippe, the Literaturbüro Ruhr and the Westfälisches Literaturbüro, is entering its second year and is valid until the end of 2020.
Hanna Jansen and Sarah Meyer-Dietrich represent the prose section, while Hellmuth Opitz and Bastian Schneider represent the poetry section. Doris Meißner-Johannknecht and Ute Wegmann have been recruited for the children's book segment, while Rüdiger Bertram and Tobias Steinfeld cover the youth book segment.
In addition - under the title "Literatur plus" - cross-border formats will again be supported and other forms of presentation beyond the classic reading will be offered: In their "BildKlangLesung", for example, Ferdinand Lutz and Dominik Merscheid bring children's comics to life in a performative way with crazy voices, noises, music and small animations. Miriam Berger and Xaver Römer, on the other hand, can currently be experienced as a duo "sprechduette" with their advanced speech-performance project on texts by Annette von Droste-Hülshoff.
The level of teaching writing skills also remains important: once again, almost all the authors involved offer workshops on creative writing in addition to readings. Both formats can again be booked individually, but also in combination on the same day.
Appointments as well as detailed arrangements about the course of events, travel to and from the event, number of participants, selection of works and workshop topics are made directly with the authors.
