The NRW KULTURsekretariat is a cooperative venture that in particular promotes and funds multi-city initiatives.
For example, initiatives that work across cities are motivated and supported in times of tight (cultural) municipal budgets.
In addition to the genre-related and interdisciplinary programmes from theatre to art, from the promotion of reading skills to cultural education, the »cooperated projects« have therefore existed for years.
Regardless of the genre, they subsidise highly promising events and projects that are supported jointly by at least two member cities or their institutions.
Applications that indicate the respective share of the municipal partners can be made all year round. In order to satisfy the increasing demand for this programme, the funds have been continuously increased over the past years.
For years, the "Cooperated Projects" have formed a well-functioning basis for long-term and sustainable further development of successful programme approaches.
The successful series “Soundtrips NRW” and the portal “tanzweb.org”, which has been continued independently since 2016 and which will be expanded into an information platform, have proven for years how permanent and growing networks can arise from initiated and funded projects, which are forming independent funding priorities.
From 2018 onwards, the "Literarischer Sommer" (Literary Summer) will be spun off the "Cooperated Projects".
A total of 21 “cooperated projects” in Aachen, Bielefeld, Bochum, Bonn, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Cologne, Krefeld, Mönchengladbach, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Neuss, Oberhausen, Recklinghausen and Wuppertal were funded in the past year.
The number of project proposals is expected to be just as big for 2018.
