Under the title “Das 3. Ohr” (The 3rd Ear), the NRW KULTURsektretariat has initiated numerous activities in the field of world music since 2004 and evolved with a wide variety of partners: from concert sponsorship such as the long-established “Klanglandschaften” and the organisation of conferences and discussions, to instrumental funding initiatives in public music schools such as “Baglama für alle!” as well as training programmes for world music teachers. Many primary schools in North Rhine-Westphalia have already benefited from the “Sesam öffne dich” funding initiative set up in 2009, which has been continued from 2010 onwards with the "Karibuni Watoto” world music programme. These hands-on concerts will also be extending their invitations in 2012 to join in the fun and experience musical cultures from other countries and cultural groups.
