Favoriten perfomance network

The perfomance network "Favoriten" cultivates productions, ensembles und hosts of the Off-Scene in NRW

From the 24th of November to the 1st of December 2012, the 15th edition of Favoriten in Dortmund will again be showcasing outstanding independent theatrical productions from North Rhine-Westphalia. The Festival was founded in 1985 under the title “Theaterzwang” as a biennial presentation platform for the North Rhine-Westphalian independent theatre scene, and is regarded as Germany’s longest-established off-scene competition. The current “Favoriten performance network”, operated and financed by the NRW KULTURsekretariat, is valid even before the festival starts in 2012.

Until then, a total of four award-winning productions will have the opportunity to tour North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and internationally. To accompany this, there is also an attractive supporting package of venues, event organisers and schools, since they receive significant grants for inviting the selected ensembles to perform for them.

Theatre event organisers agree dates with the relevant producers and apply to the Kultursekretariat for the funding, which covers a maximum of 50% of the fee. Individual transport and overnight accommodation costs are also added. As always, with the performance network, free educational accompaniment is also offered: this once again gives classes of school children the opportunity to explore the theatre's visit in more detail through preparatory exercises and discussions of the topics addressed in the piece. Conversations with the artists following the performance ensure a very special experience.

The current performance network includes: "Welle: Asphaltkultur" by Samir Akika/Unusual Symptoms, "Unter der Haut" by Ingo Toben, "Spiel der Kräfte" by the HELIOS Theater and the "Impulse" 2011 award-winning production "Testament" by She She Pop and their fathers.
