After nine international artists and art exchange programmes since 1990, »Transfer« was redesigned in early 2015 and its scope will be widened mainly in terms of content.

“Transfer“ for visual arts was thus turned into a whole bunch of “Transfers” for different genres such as art, theatre and dance.

The focus is genre and topic-specific as well as interdisciplinary exchange programmes with varying international hotspots, with which partnerships of two years will be developed.

Thus, intensive processes of work and dialogue between different international partners on the one hand and relevant actors and institutions in the cities of the KULTURsekretariat on the other are created. The aim of the concrete joint project work and the long-term discursive exchange lies in the networking of different scenes and above all in sustainability.

The first “Transfer International” took place from 2016 to 2017 on a regional level with the Netherlands and Belgium and the thematic focus was on the two main topics of the NRW KULTURsekretariat: “Digital Culture” and “Intercultural affairs/diversity”.

Since the end of 2018, Greece with the cities of Athens and Thessaloniki has been at the centre of the current transfer. This “Transfer International“ is advanced in joint collaboration of institutions from Greece and North Rhine-Westphalia, and again focuses on the two main topics of the NRWKS, namely Digital Culture and Interculture/Diversity.

Hinweise für Antragsteller*innen

The project executing organisations are invited to work out points that connect us and separate us in an artistic exchange. Linking up with the “International Visitors Programme” is also planned once again.

The first call for projects was issued in June 2018. It was followed by a call for cultural projects with artists from North Rhine-Westphalia and Greece of all genres and institutions. As a result of this call, a total of six projects is initially funded until early 2019.

Further calls both on the German and Greek side will follow in 2019; the first call was issued at the beginning of February (deadline: 8 March 2019).
