The NRW KULTURsekretariat has repeatedly supported the development of innovative, aesthetic and formal approaches beyond the boundaries of traditional genres.
In dialogue with the cultural offices of the partnering cities, the NRW KULTURsekretariat launched “PerformAktiv” in 2015, a new programme for the funding and promotion of performative formats with experimental approaches.
Due to the positive response, the sponsorship volume for 2016 will be expanded.
With a focus above all on the strengthening of local scenes, organisers are continuously encouraged to incorporate performative works beyond classical forms, genres and formats in their programmes that usually have only slim changes of receiving any funding.
Funding is provided, for example, for installation-oriented works with performative elements or interventions in the public domain as well as in unusual venues. Staged productions, however, are still not eligible for funding.
The applications are once more forwarded to the NRW KULTURsekretariat by the cultural offices that encourage submissions based on their knowledge of local conditions and that propose the projects to be funded.
The funding per application amounts to a maximum of 50% of the shortfall and up a maximum funding of EUR 1,000. The total volume of submitted projects may not exceed 20,000 euros.
