As is well known, the NRW KULTURsekretariat is above all a cooperation institution for inter-communal and networked projects. Here initiatives are stimulated and supported that work across cities.
In addition to the sectoral and cross-cutting programmes - from theatre to art, from reading promotion to cultural education - there is therefore the support programme "Kooperierte Projekte" (Cooperated Projects).
Irrespective of the genre, promising events and projects are promoted which are jointly financially supported by at least two member cities or their publicly funded institutions.
Applications, which show the respective own contribution of the municipal partners, can be submitted throughout the year.
In order to meet the increasing demand for this programme, the funding has been continuously increased in recent years.
In 2019, a total of 13 "Cooperated Projects" were funded in Bochum, Bonn, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Essen, Cologne, Krefeld, Münster, Oberhausen and Wuppertal.
For years, the "Cooperated Projects" have provided an excellent basis for the long-term and sustainable further development of successful programme approaches.
The successful "Soundtrips NRW" series and the "TANZweb NRW" portal, which has been running independently since 2016 and is being expanded as an information platform, demonstrate how lasting and growing networks can be created from projects initiated and funded in this way. In 2018, the "Literarische Sommer/Literaire Zomer" was also spun off from the "Cooperated Projects" and provided with special funding.
