Neuss comes across as traditional and modern at the same time: The Kulturraum Hombroich and the Museum Insel Hombroich, the former rocket station and the art and exhibition house of the Langen Foundation are noted for their unique symbiosis of art and nature. Pavilions can be visited on walks, and invite strollers to stay awhile. They house very different art treasures. Every year, ensembles from across the world travel to Neuss for the Shakespeare Festival – and the crowd is enthralled by the widely differing interpretations of classic works such as “Hamlet” or “Romeo and Juliet”. Ultimately, the Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss am Rhein (dkn) is amongst the most distinguished chamber orchestras in Europe. Numerous events will be held in Neuss from April to November 2009 to mark the 800th anniversary of the St. Quirinus Minster. The festivities reach their highpoint on the day that marks the actual laying of the foundation stone, the 9th October 2009.
