Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR)

The LVR (Countryside Association of the Rhineland) regularly gets involved with events and campaigns for social affairs and for culture in the Rhineland, always under the motto “Quality for people”.

The Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR) is an association of the 14 independent cities and 13 districts. For the 9.6 million citizens of the Rhineland, its 15,000 officials fulfil tasks that are discharged across the region. With its 40 special schools and two schools for sick pupils, ten hospitals, six museums and its therapeutic educational network and as the biggest service provider for people with disabilities in Germany, the LVR fulfils tasks in disabled and youth aid, in psychiatry and culture, which are discharged across the Rhineland. The comprehensive range of tasks is performed by 70 agencies and coordinated and controlled by the central administration in Cologne. The LVR managed a total budget of approx. EUR 2.64 billion in financial year 2007. It also aims to channel investments of about EUR 190 million to meet the specific needs of different groups of people.
