Bonn

Bonn has more to offer than Beethoven. Historic attractions, art highlights in the Bonn museum mile, atmospheric impressions on the romantic Rhine.

The heritage of Ludwig van Beethoven, who was born here in 1770, is compelling. Every year in autumn, Bonn and the region play host to world-famous performers and young, highly talented musicians at the Beethoven Festival, at which the musical heritage of the great composer is hotly debated. Before that, the “Bonner Sommer” presents culture from around the world in Bonn city centre, often in the open air on the market place. The museum mile is Bonn’s main draw for art and culture fans from around the world. An impressive cultural landscape has arisen in the heart of the city, which includes the Kunstmuseum Bonn, the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of German, the German Museum in Bonn, the House of the History of the Federal Republic of German, the zoological research institute and Museum Alexander Koenig. Also recommended for its internationally regarded productions is Theater Bonn, a venue for a sophisticated audience with an open-minded approach to the contemporary.
