In 2008 Transfer France-NRW starts with a directed investigation and the search for partners.
BY MAY 2009: JURY SELECTION
In mid May 2009, a bi-national jury of experts chose seven artists representing each country from a large number of recommendations submitted by experts.
SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2009: LAUNCH
All artists are invited to the participating cities in France and North Rhine-Westphalia at the end of September/beginning of October 2009. This is where all participants, who will also be presented to the general public in the partner institutions, will get to know each other.
NOVEMBER 2009 TO MARCH 2010: ARTISTS’ RESIDENCES
Following the kick off events, the first artists arrive in France for their two-month artists’ residences. While the German artists stay in Nantes, Dijon and Tourcoing resp. Lille in November and December 2009, the French artists are guests in Dortmund, Mönchengladbach and Mülheim an der Ruhr in February and March 2010. The artists’ village of Schöppingen offers all participating artists the opportunity of an additional stay in January 2010.
APRIL/MAY 2010: STUDIO VISITS
In April/May 2010, to prepare the exhibitions the curators will participating artists. A mutual curator’s concept is created.
FROM NOVEMBER 2010: EXHIBITIONS
At the final exhibitions in North Rhine-Westphalia from November of the year 2010 until January 2011 and in France at the beginning of 2011, the works of all Transfer artists will be shown in the partner institutions, each interpreting the general exhibition-concept. A multilingual catalogue, in the form of a journal, will document the creative exchange.
