Musée des Beaux-Arts Eugène Leroy

Since 1992, the Tourcoing fine arts museum has been examining the use of its premises as a means of artistic experimentation and, by contrasting styles and themes, has initiated dialogue on contemporary art and art from previous centuries, also included performing- and visual arts. The works on exhibitions are regularly changed. Thus the presentation of permanent collection is thought as temporary exhibitions. Questions of transparency, time, place, abstraction, everyday life, the body, identity, the model … are explored in a unexpected mixture of periods and media. The museum’s active purchasing policy has also enabled the creation of special rooms dedicated to artists of the 20th century. In 2009, the Tourcoing fine arts museum received an exceptional donation of over 600 works by Eugène Leroy.
