Created in 1984 by the Ministry of Culture and Communication in partnership with the Regional Council of Burgundy, the FRAC Bourgogne (Regional Contemporary Art Funds) aims to draw attention to contemporary art, build up a high-level collection and distribute it. The works in the collection can be viewed in temporary exhibitions in Burgundy, in France and internationally. Its approach to exhibitions and purchases, outlined by the director Eva González-Sancho since 2003, is based on numerous questions raised today concerning public and private space, architecture and town planning, legislation and individual liberty, and exhibition space.
