Creative artists, creators and curators from around the world encounter the North Rhine-Westphalian art scene and network with its participants.

On the occasion of the lit.COLOGNE, which in 2012 will take place from 14 to 24 March, journalists, writers and representatives of literary institutions from all over the globe will visit readings and theatrical performances, meet with publishing houses and authors, and dive into the literature scene of North Rhine-Westphalia. Guests are Monika Kuc from Rzeczpospolita in Poland, Jurgita Ludaviciena (7 meno dienos in Lithuania), Sasa Gavric (Sarajevo Open Centre in Bosnia), Miguel Conde (Festa Literaria Internacional de Paraty in Brasil), Jingjing Lu (Lifeweek in China), Avner Shapira (Haaretz, Israel) as well as freelancer curator and journalist Marcin Wilk from Poland.

The International Women’s Film Festival Dortmund | Cologne (17 to 22 April 2012) counts among the most renowned events of its kind. On the occasion of the  festival taking place in Cologne in 2012, the International Visitors Programme will invite film and media makers to North Rhine-Westphalia to visit festival events, to get to know NRW’s feminist media landscape and to gain insight into the North Rhine-Westphalia art scene, as part of the Art Cologne taking place simultaneously. Gloria Estevez Baeza from chilenian »FEMCINE – Festival de Cine de Mujeres de Santiago« and Paula Alves from »Femina – International Women’s Filmfestival« in Rio de Janeiro will be coming.

At the end of the month curators, journalists and representatives of film institutions will visit the International Short Film Days in Oberhausen (26 April to 01 May 2012) and get to know film schools as well as the experimental film scene on the Rhine and Ruhr. In addition, meetings with curators from NRW and visits to galleries and museums of the local cultural landscape are on the schedule. Guests are Karen Brusch from Momo Gallery in Johannesburg, Joyce Grech from The Malta Film Foundation, Daniel Kasmann from mubi.com und Jed Rapfogel from Anthology Film Archives in New York, Kong Rithdee from Bangkok Post in Thailand and curator Mark Williams from CIRCUIT Artist Film and Video Aotearoa in New Zealand.

Finally, New Music will move into the focus of the International Visitors Programme. Journalists from all over the world will come to visit on the occasion of the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik (Witten Days of new chamber music) and discuss with composers from NRW about perspectives and current developments in the field of New Music. Agnese Biedrina from Latvian Radio in Latvia, Lucy Cheung from The Beijing News in China, Romina de la Sotta from El Mercurio in Chile, Teodora Mousseva from Kapital daily in Bulgaria, Bellamy Pailthorp from American KPLU Public Radio, Petr Ferenc from HIS Voice in Czech Republic, Bas van Putten from De Groene Amsterdammer as well as Jorge Horst from entrenotas.com.ar in Argentina and Valdemar Lonsted from Information in Denmark will be coming.

From 10 to 20 May, the FIDENA Festival (Puppet Theatre of Nations) will take place in Bochum, Essen and Herne. On this occasion puppeteers from all over the world will present themselves on stages throughout the Ruhr district. The International Visitors Programme will bring curators and festival organisers together with participating artists and open up new opportunities of cooperation.

Finally, journalists, curators, writers and theatre directors from around the global will come to visit on the occasion of the Mülheim Theatre Days (19 May to 09 June 2012) and gain insight into NRW’s theatre scene. The visitors will become familiar with the theatres in Germany’s most densely populated state and meet colleagues from the region.

From 23 to 26 May a Belgian-German curator and journalist exchange will be taking place in cooperation with BAM - Flemish Institute for visual, audiovisual and media art.
